Building a Wood Pallet Shed

Using this as a guide, we're building a storage shed/future sheep barn out of wood pallets we've collected over the year.  If we can swing it budget-wise (about $300), we're going to side it with red steel siding.  I've always wanted a red barn!

  1. Totally saw you & your family today at the library!!! It was the most bizarre thing...because I have a been a follower of your blog for a while now. I was with my kids getting the utilities changed into our name as we just bought a house there:) I really wish I would have introduced myself. What a crazy small world. Have a beautiful day. ~ Taryn Anday & Family

    1. That is so funny, you should have! Was it at the New Richmond library? We were in town for the day, visiting with friends and picking up our oldest from Grandma and Grandpa's house. :)
      A small world, indeed.

    2. It is funny! Yes, the New Richmond Library. I remember reading one of your posts about listening to Charlie Parr...and that was music to my ears.

  2. Is this sitting on the bare ground? I can't wait to see how you put the roof on.

    1. It is on bare ground right now, but we nailed recycled treated 1x6's to the bottom. Mike was just mentioning last night that we should put some bricks under the frame to make it last longer.

  5. There are always pallets up for grabs at my husband's work, but we haven't done anything this cool with them!

  7. Oh wow, I love this! The husband is doing something similar at the moment, although on a much smaller scale. We have an allotment and decided that if possible we wouldn't buy anything for it so he is constructing a shed from pallets, off-cuts of wood that we still had, and an old shower door. It looks mad, but I'm telling myself that it's also charming. ;)

  8. I have been bugging the hubby for years to do this, but he is one of those folks who sees one solution/path to a problem (e.g. buy "real" wood from the lumber yard) and if we can't afford to do it the "right" way he doesn't want any part of it. Your post has reinvigorated my drive to convince him before our own sheep arrive this fall. Thank you! Is your new place in St. Croix County or in Wisconsin in general? I know your former house is near where I grew up. Heading up north to Hammond today to visit my folks for a week--maybe I'll see you around. ;)
