Free Range Chickens {and Children}

 photo by Mike

Grandma and Grandpa gave us free range on their small homestead while we take care of the chickens.  We've been enjoying the last of the tomatoes from the garden and picking apples for pies and applesauce.  We even discovered a small, second harvest on the wild berries nestled into the edge of the woods!

What are you harvesting right now?

  1. Do you know what type of apples those are? We are in the process of buying our own small homestead and some of our apple trees look very similar to those pictured here. Thanks so much and take care!

    1. I don't know, Jess. I'll try to remember to ask when they get home. :)

      p.s. They are pretty tart and just right for pies!

  3. I also was surprised yesterday by a couple second harvest red raspberries in our yard. A perfect red ripe raspberry is just heaven!
