Homesteading

Homesteading:  A weekly account of our journey to becoming off grid homesteaders.  Our path will be long as we are only paying in cash and our funds are very limited.  Mike and I have no idea what we're doing so we'll be learning as we go.  I know we'll make mistakes and that's ok.  It's all part of the process.

We would love to read about your homesteading experiences, so if you'd like to share your favorite resources, tips, funny stories, recipes, books, website or even just a photo from the week, please leave a link in the comments.

Recently, we cleared out some downed trees in the woods to make room for the older, more well established trees and underbrush to thrive.  A few of the branches were the perfect size for buttons.

I really love the rustic, natural feel of hand cut buttons and the sweet smell of our homemade beeswax polish.

They add a nice touch to handmade items and as you can see, the younger ones can't resist playing with them, too!

I'm also trying out something new... "buy now" buttons from Paypal.  It's only an experiment of sorts for now.  You can checkout right here from the blog using your Paypal funds or pay directly with a credit card. (No Paypal account needed!)  Let me know what you think and if you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me at sittingtree@frontier.com.

  1. Liz! I love your buttons! They're absolutely perfect (my little ones felt compelled to play with them as well!). (:

  3. Hi

We're sort of homesteading too but in a slightly different way. We're doing it in France & "re-discovering" an old house & property that has been neglected for decades. I'm also a knitting lover !
